Mother and daughter 091

A thumb rule for choosing frames was that the glasses should follow the eyebrow line. During the 1970's, this thumb rule went overboard. Many giant glasses were designed and used to create a new eyebrow line. Raise the roof....
Miriam and Esther chose their combinations of vintage glasses with care and this is a wonderful example of well chosen frames. Esther's Christian Dior glasses are high but fairly narrow, a perfect extension of her face. There is a raised eyebrow line but it's in harmony with Esther's eyebrows.
The "Venus" glasses shown by Miriam were considered tiny when they were made. The highly unusual shape of the frame does not suit all faces because of its pronounced eyebrow line. But if there's a match, the effect is fantastic. Lettie, a highly experienced model who posed for me in 2010, was really in love with "Venus" as the frame suited her great. We always kept the joke between ourselves that I would mention Venus in my will, especially for Lettie but life is full of surprises. When Miriam put up the "Venus" glasses, my first thought was, "This is amazing.... they suit her even better than Lettie!".
Information for readers wishing to compare the effect of the "Venus" glasses on previous models: Brigitta 096, Astrid 072 (both in 2009, first weblog), Lettie 053 (in 2010, first weblog, great series), Jolien 114, LĂ©onne 110, Claudia Allegonda 004 (all on the present weblog) and finally Grazyna who posed in them for me shortly after the start of her photo shoot on the beach of Bray (Ireland) in April.
Do you wish to choose your own favourite "Miss Venus"? Be my guest!
