Sohaila 012

An introduction in sepia, followed by this heavily edited portrait of Sohaila in glasses made by Saphira during the mid to late 1970's - allow me to explain why such drastic steps had to be taken. There are two good reasons. First of all, these eccentric Saphira glasses are notoriously difficult to use at photo shoots because there is no anti-reflective coating in the tinted lenses. Second, light conditions at our improvised indoor location were mediocre - to say the least - and constantly changing. When this series first appeared on my screen, my first reflex was "forget about the Saphira this time" - it was the visual equivalent of what musicians in Holland call a "kakafonie". An excess of glare and shades which changed into irregular patches during the "first aid" editing process. But where there's a will, there is always a way....
