Sohaila 072

This is one of my absolute favorite portraits from the contemporary section of the photo shoot with beautiful Sohaila. She is six foot tall and somehow this makes its presence felt here, even in a portrait photo shoot.
For once, I had no superlatives for her posing, even after checking the English dictionary from A to Z.

When posting this portrait, the late Luke Kelly ran into my head, singing the chorus of a song that brought The Dubliners in the charts, in the aftermath of their "Seven drunken nights". The song in question ends up worse than being drunk and suspecting marriage problems. The singer is sent to Van Diemen's Land for an offense not committed by him at all - if he's telling us the truth. The Irish have great songs about the truth - or the lack of it. Dubliner Barney McKenna once introduced a sea shanty by telling a story about the fishermen in his local. He ended up the story with the phrase: "They have a saying among themselves that the only time a fisherman is telling the truth is when he's calling another fisherman a liar. And that's the truth!".
But let's go back to Luke and his song chorus. Allow me one minor adjustment to do full justice to Sohaila:

"Her eyes they shone like diamonds
her neck it was just like a swan
and her hair it hung over her shoulders
released from the black velvet band"
