This blog is dedicated to ladies in glasses. The vast majority of the portraits on this blog feature ladies wearing glasses near their own Rx. I felt that this would give a more natural flavour to the pictures and also a more natural setting for the photo shoots from which the pictures on this blog are selected. Nearly all the glasses featured in this blog are from my own collection.

Sohaila 003
Orange glasses first appeared on the market in 1964 when the cat eye era was over. The new glasses were small and compact. The colors were orange, brown and black. Orange glasses were for blondes, brown and black glasses were for brunettes. In those days, opticians were very strict in their advice. The love summer of 1967 brought many good things, including the first glasses with bigger frames. The colors and frame materials remained the same until around 1970. This is how fashion developed in the streets of my native Amsterdam. For a boy who dreamed of becoming an optician, it was quite fascinating to witness all these changes in the streets. The lenses in these Metzler glasses are slightly tinted and a bit stronger than Sohaila's prescription but she was not bothered by the -1.25 difference.
