Osi 142



The late Ronnie Drew of the Dubliners sang several songs about the circumstances in which many Irishmen worked in England before and after World War Two. "Building up and tearing England down" is one of his best songs. It ran through my head when editing the photos of Osi posing in Henrietta Street so here are a few song lines, adjusted to the editing work of Osi's photo shoot:

"Though it was a playful joke,
many gates went up in smoke
when I was building up and tearing Ireland down"
