For those who could afford it, the "walls of glass" at the sides of the huge rimless frames were decorated with facets. This was the first time the expression "crystal veil" for a lady's glasses sprang to my mind. Another solution, shown here by Daisy, was to split the edges into three: a part pointed forward and a part pointed backward (almost like myodisc lenses) and a straight section in the middle.
