This blog is dedicated to ladies in glasses. The vast majority of the portraits on this blog feature ladies wearing glasses near their own Rx. I felt that this would give a more natural flavour to the pictures and also a more natural setting for the photo shoots from which the pictures on this blog are selected. Nearly all the glasses featured in this blog are from my own collection.

Mother and daughter 006
Esther and Miriam posing in glasses that were highly popular in the late 1950's. I remember ladies sporting them in my native Amsterdam. Esther (left) is posing in a pair made by Lozza from Italy. She could see her court photographer quite well as the lenses are quite weak. Miriam is posing in a nameless pair which I always called the Julia Clifford glasses after seeing a music video made in Ireland in 1967. Julia Clifford (b. 1914 - d. 1997) was a famous fiddler from the Sliabh Luachra tradition and she sported the cat eye glasses shown here by Miriam. The glasses were previously featured in my first photo shoot with Irma in 2009. The Lozza glasses shown here by Esther were previously used in my first photo shoot with Astrid during the winter of 2009 / 2010, and they can also be seen in my photo shoot with Hiska in 2010 (first weblog). Both glasses were probably used as readers by their first owners.
