Marieke 375

The visual echo easily remains for a minute, enough for her court photographer to take pictures from all vantage points required. It's really a matter of reflexes, giving the proper instructions to the model without thinking, let alone hesitating. The same reflexes - a result of experience - are often needed in mountain climbing. Over the years, Marieke and I did some adventurous climbs and it was always a matter of good team work. On one occasion we made the final part of the descent to our bivouac site halfway the mountain in pitch dark, with a bad storm approaching. Small wonder that when my photography project started, I thought of Marieke and looking back, we quickly developed the same level of teamwork during her photo shoots. Visibility almost zero - what the heck? Just go for it!
