Connie 075

Fine posing by Connie in a rare piece of my collection.
These are wooden glasses and they were only in the shops
for a short while in 1966. The shape of the frame was rather
mainstream in the mid 1960's (after the cat eye era and before
the invasion of the big frames) but the idea of a wooden frame
was not picked up by the customers and the glasses disappeared
from the shop windows, never to come back. In my schooldays
I wanted to become an optician and I was fascinated by these
wooden glasses. Ten years ago, I came across this authentic
pair of glasses at a street fair and bought them straightaway -
no bargaining! They were exactly the same wooden glasses that
opticians were trying to sell in 1966. I don't remember seeing
anyone wearing them at the time in Amsterdam, but the find
confirmed that at least one girl or woman was attracted by them :)
