Wooden glasses appeared in a few optician's shops in
Amsterdam in the spring and summer of 1966 but they
soon disappeared. Their shape was exactly what was in
style in the few years between the cat eye era and the
arrival of the big frames, but wood was considered one
step too far. I never saw anyone in the streets wearing
these wooden glasses. But apparently some customers
bought a pair - at least one did - and I came across this
pair at a street fair, some eight years back. Great!
