The mid 1970's witnessed the glorious arrival of haute
couture (also called "haute monture") when Christian Dior
started designing and manufacturing eyewear. Several of
their competitors zoomed in behind Dior and these all but
everyday glasses by Cardin are a splendid example.
Mind you, their first owner really needed them every day,
but given the immaculate state of the frame my guess is that
she wore contact lenses most of the time.
