Christien 053

These Menrad myodiscs, not featured in any previous
photo shoots, have been puzzling me since I acquired
them, some ten years ago. Their first owner must have
been male and I wonder what led him to choose for the
"claustrofobia" of 28 millimeters bowls. My best guess is
that these are monovision bifocals, with the right lens (Rx
-10) for long distance and the left lens (-7) for reading.
Perhaps this man had poor peripheral vision and the tiny
bowls were of some help in concentrating on the centre?
The bowls are not in the centre of the frame and the lenses
have no anti-reflective coating. Christien obligingly put them
on at my request and she was just as puzzled as me. My
request was based on the lucky coincidence that the left
bowl has exactly her own prescription. The glare in the lenses
is so intense that most pictures had to be rejected. Anyway,
thank you Christien, for this experiment in myodiscs!
