There seems to be a recent, substantial increase in the
number of students who need bifocals. However, this fine
portrait of Bianca in bifocals has nothing to do with her
actual eyesight. The majority of the glasses on street fairs,
flea markets and in bric à brac shops come from elderly
(sometimes deceased) people. Many younger women keep
all their glasses as a souvenir of each epoch in their lives.
