Marieke is my climbing partner in the Alps. Tough as they come and an excellent companion. She is not afraid of extreme circumstances in the Alps or even Himalayas and as a result, doing a photo shoot in the frost and snow is not something out of the ordinary for her. But what about the long dress? The answer is found when one looks at 19th century photos of the first ladies who became mountain climbers. Mont Blanc, Matterhorn and numerous 4000 meter peaks in the Alps were all climbed by ladies in long dresses. Besides, Marieke and I had the luxury of a warm living room just a stone throw away from the location in the garden. Still, hat off for the way Marieke braved the cold!
