Lady behind Crystal Veil is an appropriate description

of this "en profil" portrait. The split arms of the glasses

are inviting the viewer to look at Claudine's eyes but the

view is barred by a veritable wall of glass. Lens thickness

in these glasses is about one millimeter per diopter. As a

consolation for the viewer, the right eye of the model is

just visible through the lens.
