Léonne 027

These vintage Minerva glasses were highly popular in the
final days of the cat eye era, around 1962. I remember
seeing many girls and women wearing them in the streets
of Amsterdam. The frame was a best seller because it was
fashionable but not extreme. The material and the colours
were new and remained popular until around 1966, when
the cat eye glasses had made way for small, solid glasses
in different shapes. The glasses suited many faces when they
were made and they are now among the favourites of my
models for the very same reason. They can be seen in the
video of the catwalk at the opening of my exhibition in
September 2010
