Marieke does not consider becoming a part of any jet set

but she kindly made an exception for these Jet Set varifocals.
I have no jet set aspirations either, but we made another
notable exception when I was invited by the beau monde to
attend Bach's "Weihnachtscantate" in 2004. It was the sort of
"showing off & gossip" event where one was expected to turn
up with a partner. Being in between relations at that moment
I had to search for a suitable "day fiancee" and when I invited
Marieke she was all go for it. The only problem was that neither
of us had any posh outfits. My daughter Daphne knew a cheap
couture shop and joined us in the search for a long black dress
for Marieke and a black suit for me. We even added long arm
gloves for Marieke. When we made our steps on the red carpet
leading into the theatre, we were really in the spotlights and the
gossip about "my" unknown young lady could be felt like a
shock wave. Marieke played her part so well that even the court
photographer turned up and asked us permission to make half
a dozen portraits of the couple that looked so madly in love.
We still cherish those portraits and the memory of a night never
to be forgotten. Acting can be a lot of fun!
