Karen 082

The 1970's were a glorious decade for revolutionary
eyeware. Many designers experimented with huge
frames, often in shapes that had never been tried out
before. Here Karen poses in a remarkable pair from
France. The eyebrow line is quite unusual and the
designer was quite aware of it. One of the arms is
stamped "Creation Marc Gaillard".
Et dieu créa la femme....
Even then, the first owner of the glasses must have
been a courageous lady. She was German and I often
noticed that German ladies were - and still are - more
into experimenting with unusual frames than ladies in
Holland. The day after the photo shoot with Karen I
travelled to Amsterdam and made the acquaintance
of Steffen and Bettina, a friendly couple from the
Frankfurt area. They recently auctioned some of
Bettina's old glasses from the 1990's and suggested
that we could meet instead of sending the glasses in
the post. Bettina has a great taste for glasses and
there was something special about all her frames.
I hope to show her glasses in a photo shoot in the near
future.
