Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 053

This lovely group portrait of my models Lucy, Farishta, Astrid and
Nel concludes this series. More pictures are expected to follow.
These were taken by the press and I look forward to see the results.
Again, sincere thanks to opticians Manfred Friedag, Michael Kolley
and their staff for their great hospitality and support during the event.
Much appreciated! Needless to say, we'll keep in touch....

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 052

My job was to see if there was any traffic coming, but it was too
tempting to keep on snapping at the same time :). Even the punctual
city bus stopped for about half a minute, allowing us this finale grandioso.

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 051

Encore posing in the street for the press.... Astrid and Nel had quickly
changed glasses.

Glasses Astrid: Christian Dior, late 1970's
[L: -5.00; c-0.50 h / R: -5.50; c-1.25 h]

Glasses Nel: Christian Olivier
[L: -8.50; c-1.50 v / R: -10.00; c-1.50 v]

Encore posing by models Lucy, Farishta, Astrid and Nel....

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 049

Dear Lucy, Farishta, Astrid and Nel, thank you all for
your flexible agendas.... It took a while before the date
was fixed and then everything had to be arranged on very
short notice. Anyway, it was a quite enjoyable event!

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 048

More generous posing by my models Lucy, Farishta, Astrid and Nel....

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 047

Not to be outdone, I presented the ladies with more flowers....

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 046

Lucy, Farishta, Astrid and Nel posing with red roses kindly presented
to them by the Friedag staff after the catwalk.

Portraits of Mieke, Tineke and Lettie on display in the Friedag Optik
shop windows during the next few weeks.

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 044

Shop windows are not equipped with anti-reflective coating, but a
number of portraits are on display and they look much better if you
come and take a look yourself.
Top row: Irma and Margriet.
Bottom: Nanda and Charlotte.

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 043

Some glasses from my collection will be on display in the shop during
the next few weeks.
Address: Friedag Augenoptik, Firnhaberstrasse 4, Nordhorn, Germany.

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 042

Farishta had one special request when I invited her for
the catwalk in Nordhorn - could I bring along her favourite
pair of glasses from my collection? Here they are:

Glasses: Luxotica, 1990's
[L: -7.00; c-2.50 v / R: -9.00; c-2.50 v]

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 039

The following pictures need no further narrative except that we were
just ready when the weather broke....

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 038

Left to right: Lucy, Farishta, Astrid and Nel - four graceful ladies after
their fifth and final catwalk run.

Glasses Lucy: nameless, 1970's
[L=R: -5.25]
Glasses Farishta: Silhouette 1816, early 1990's
[L: -6.00 / R: -5.50; c-0.50 h / var add 2.50 (R only)]

Glasses Astrid: Neostyle, early 1970's
[L=R: -0.50]
Glasses Nel: Metzler, mid 1970's
[L: -10.50 / R: -11.50]

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 037

Another capture of Lucy posing in striking Christian Dior glasses made
some 30 years ago.

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 036

Another fine portrait of Lucy showing the beautiful design
of late 1970's glasses by Christian Dior.

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 035

Some catwalk models have the tendency to play safe when
it comes to the selection of glasses. Lucy did not hesitate to
choose these striking glasses by Christian Dior. Design for
"the bold and the beautiful". Hat off for Lucy!

Glasses: Christian Dior, late 1970's
[L: -5.00; c-0.50 h / R: -5.50; c-1.25 h]

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 034

Fine posing by Lucy during the final part of the catwalk.

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 033

My four models represented a nice variety in age, posing
style and Rx. My partner Nel has a lively but natural way of
posing in Formlenti and blended myodisc glasses and this
attributed greatly to the catwalk. The lenses in this pair are less
than one diopter above her own prescription.
Pictures are frozen stills but the real beauty of blended myodiscs
has to be seen at a catwalk. The lively way the lenses change
their aspect at even the slightest movement of the model's head
is unique and Nel knows exactly how to produce the maximal
effect. Great!

Glasses: nameless, 1980's, blended myodiscs (Lentilux)
[L: -11.50; c-1.00 v / R: -12.00; c-1.00 h]

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 032

There was a nice element of synergy between the four models
at the catwalk. Their style of posing is highly individual but
quite different and the same goes for the Rx of their glasses.
Astrid has perfect eyesight so she catered for the glasses with
a mild prescription. Mind you, she posed for me in myodiscs,
giving the viewer the impression that they were her own glasses,
but a catwalk on high heels is a different ballgame alltogether!

Glasses: nameless, neo 1960's half rim
[L: -1.50; c-0.25 o / R: -1.75]

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 031

When Astrid started posing for me as a Lady behind Crystal
Veil, the comments were highly favourable, e.g. "She has all
the hallmarks of a good model". One of her talents is the way
she keeps a perfect balance between the expression of the
eyes and the lips.

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 030

Another delightful capture of Astrid in early 1960's style.

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 029

Superb posing by Astrid in remarkable neo-1960's half-rim
glasses sent to me by a friendly German lady called Barbara.

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 028

Once, twice, three times a lady.... (The Commodores). Great posing
by Astrid during the third round of the catwalk.

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 027

The newspaper announcement of the opening of my exhibition
had a small surprise in store for my beloved partner Nel. Out
of 7000 portraits on my weblogs, Friedag Optik chose this fine,
confident portrait of Nel dancing the salsa during the catwalk at
my exhibition in Enschede, September 2010.
Good taste, Manfred and Michael!

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 026

The Friedag company did a fine job on the PR, both in
the newspapers and in a present for the visitors.

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 025

The entire project started with Nel and in the meantime we have become
a seasoned model / photographer duet. It was heartening to see how
Nel's spontaneity was appreciated by the Friedag staff.

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 024

Nel posing in her spontaneous way during the third part of the catwalk.
The glasses were sent to me by Martin from Köln and subsequently used
during my photo shoot with Léonne. Nel could see well through the left
lens but the right lens is six diopters too strong. Fortunately, Nel had no
problem with the monovision!

Glasses: Studio Italy (Enjoy), blended myodiscs (Lentilux)
[L: -11.50 / R: -16.50; c-2.00 o]

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 023

Another capture of Lucy in Silhouette glasses during the third round
of the catwalk at the premises of Friedag Augenoptik in Nordhorn,
Germany.

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 022

Lucy had no previous catwalk experience but she is
familiar with the stage, having been a singer in a pop
group for a couple of years. She zoomed in perfectly
on the ambiance of the exhibition in Nordhorn. Great!

Glasses: Silhouette 1014, late 1970's
[L: -6.00; c-0.50 v / R: -5.50; c-1.00 v]

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 021

"Hi Mr. Photographer! How are you faring today?"

"I am fine, Lucy, and you do great as a catwalk model!"

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 020

Fine posing by Lucy in yet another pair of 1980's glasses
by Silhouette.

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 019

Another sweet capture of Farishta in Silhouette glasses,
Rx -7.00.

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 018

Another sweet capture of Farishta in Silhouette glasses
made some three decades ago, long before she was born.

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 017

It was great to see Farishta back in front of the camera
after a full year. Just like during her photo shoots, she zoomed
in on the new Silhouettes in my collection when preparing
herself in the dressing room and there was no discussion
about the selection of this remarkable pair. Great!

Glasses: Silhouette
[L=R: -7.00]

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 016

Farishta posing in another recent arrival, splendid late
1970's glasses by Silhouette, Rx -7.00, just a touch above
her own prescription. The glasses were sent to me by who
else but Martin from Köln.

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 015

Astrid bravely enduring the hardships in life as a model,
wearing the same outfit in which her original portraits with
the Bausch & Lomb glasses were taken - in a frozen forest
during her first of five great photo shoots. The weather in
Nordhorn was fine, a summer day, but Astrid is my "quatro
staggioni" model, used to all weather circumstances!

Glasses: Bausch & Lomb, 1960's
[L=R: +1.25 / bif add 1.75]

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 014

Another capture of the fine posing by Astrid in late 1960's bifocals by
Bausch & Lomb for the Friedag staff, some visitors, two people from
the press - and yours truly.

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 013

Astrid posing in her favourite glasses, late 1960's bifocals
by Bausch & Lomb.

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 012

Lucy posing in early 1960's style during the second part
of the catwalk. The Rx of the glasses is only slightly below
her own prescription (L=R: -5.50]

Glasses: Viennaline, 1963 or 1964
[L: -4.50 / R: -5.25]

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 011

Lucy posing in another vintage pair from the cat eye era,
glasses by Viennaline made in 1963 or 1964. Farishta and
Lucy got along great during the day and they chose their
glasses in order to provide a perfect match with eachother.

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 010

Fine posing with a touch of melancholy by Farishta in
vintage cat eye glasses by Minerva, one diopter below
her own Rx.

Glasses: Minerva, circa 1960
[L: -4.75; c-0.50 v / R: -5.00]

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 009

Farishta posing in vintage Minerva cat eye glasses during
the second round of the catwalk.

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 008

Ever since doing my first photo shoot with Nel in the late
summer of 2008, I enjoyed this beautiful combination. By
a stroke of fortune, the right lens in these Christian Olivier
Formlenti myodiscs gives Nel perfect eyesight for the long
distance - handy during catwalks - and the left lens is suited
for close work.

Glasses: Christian Olivier (Formlenti myodiscs)
[L: -8.50; c-1.50 v / R: -10.00; c-1.50 v]

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 007

When Manfred Friedag saw Nel preparing herself for the
second round in the catwalk, wearing these très chique
Formlenti myodiscs by Christian Olivier, he excused himself
for a second and then came back with a newspaper cutting
for Nel. It was Friedag's press announcement of the event,
featuring a picture of Nel in the very same Christian Olivier
glasses. Life is full of pleasant surprises!

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 006

A debut allright, but a splendid performance by Lucy posing
in beautiful glasses by Christian Dior.

Glasses: Christian Dior, late 1970's
[L: -5.50; c-1.00 v / R: -6.50; c-0.50 v]

Friedag catwalk Nordhorn 005

An applause well deserved by Lucy who made her first appearance
as a Lady behind Crystal Veil. Lucy kindly stepped in when another
model (Douce) had to cancel the appointment. Lucy was present at
several of my photo shoots and really motivated to give it a go herself.
Great!
